FIRST FILIPINO ELECTED AS WORLD PRESIDENT OF FIABCI
(Federation Internationale des Administrateurs de Biens etConseils lmmobiliers) or
The International Real Estate Federation based in Paris, France
(A worldwide business organization with chapters located in more than 70 countries since 1951)
A multi-awarded individual, a prominent and well-respected businessman, entrepreneur, real estate professional, a licensed Real Estate Broker and Consultant, land developer and contractor, organizational man, socio-civic leader and a dedicated family man with numerous awards and accolades in various fields of profession, civic, government and non-government service.
A renowned leader, as they say, and ever grateful to have served CREBA for more than 30 years, as National President for 3 years (2002, 2003 and 2010) along with several different positions such as Director, VP Finance, Convention Committee Chairman, CREBA Developers Award Chairman and other Committees especially the Chapter Formation and Reactivation wherein I organized the first 8 CREBA overseas Chapters in the western and eastern seaboard of the United States and became instrumental in the organization and reactivation of almost twenty (20) CREBA Chapters in Philippine provinces/cities of Visayas, Mindanao, especially Zamboanga and Luzon from 1989. It was also during my term that the four regional councils (North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao) were established and Regional Vice-Presidents were instituted. Which I did the same when I was elected President of FIABCI – Asia Pacific Region, wherein I created chapters like FIABCI-Mongolia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar.
I also initiated the holding of the first international real estate convention of CREBA held in Macau along with the Regional Seminars, Housing and Real Estate Forum and together with SHDA we organized the Real Estate and Housing Industry Pledging with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in Malacañang on November 2002. To keep the presence of CREBA in the international scene, FIABCI Philippines was incorporated with CREBA as its Principal Member in 2003.
I am proud to say that my contributions to the Chamber through my initiated projects are still widely acknowledged and recognized such as the offering of the Diploma Program in Real Estate Management in consortium with the De La Salle-College of St. Benilde (a major university in the Philippines) and in collaboration with President Bobby Sy of PAREB in 2002 – the first of its kind in real estate education in the Philippines and which is still being offered/implemented as of this date with more than 1000 graduates and generated millions for the association.
Another project which I hope will be revived is the Social Housing One Stop Processing Centers or SHOPCs, created by virtue of E.O. No. 184 issued by former President Fidel V. Ramos, designed to centralize and fast track the processing and issuance of all permits, clearances and licenses required in socialized, low-cost, economic and middle-end housing development. All agencies involved in the issuance of the required documents are represented in the SHOPC regional centers. CREBA then represented the private sector for housing. This will definitely help address the housing backlog and achieve the realization of the Pabahay Project of DHSUD and Office of the President.
Leading CREBA and other real estate associations honed my leadership capabilities which led me to be called “Organizational Man” and the First Filipino elected and served as World President of FIABCI – The International Real Estate Federation.
I will be forever thankful to CREBA. Congratulations on your 50th Year! More Power!
